Plan your Indigenous Literacy Day celebrations… NOW!

Heads up that Indigenous Literacy Day is coming up fast! On September 6th we celebrate the culture, stories, language of Aboriginal Australia… and raise awareness and support for those that struggle with reading.

Did you know that only 25% of Indigenous students in very remote areas are at the minimum reading standard, compared to 90% of non-Indigenous students? Crazy, hey?

There is still time to do something to help out and get involved on the day! To help raise awareness and funds to get books to those that need them most, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation invites you to:

• Hold a Great Book Swap
• Make a donation through our website
• Hold a literacy event such as a book launch or storytelling session with a local Aboriginal author or Elder
• Buy an ILF t-shirt for your staff or students to wear to work or school
• Hold your own fundraising event
• Advocate for us on social media and tag @IndigenousLiteracyFoundation on Facebook and @IndigneousLF on Twitter with #ILD2017 … you can start now!
